[ Mon 00:02:55 ] gary u.s.: Eddie's tone had the most natural overdrive with tubes, Randy's tone was brittle and was born of dist pedals. The use of dummy load box and power amps on Ed's part gave his tone the juice needed to drive early phaser and flanger pedals. No offense, but, jimmy page's and alex lifeson's early echoplex work is distorting. With the mentioned set up, Eddie was able to get the over the top sustain without mxr dist.
[ Mon 00:07:48 ] gary u.s.: His guitar sounds like an echo not a cheap late 60's psychedelic movie. Also Michael Schenker's tone along with the uli john roth lead sound must be mentioned. Nothing but tube overdrive and tone knobs, so nasal. But then again I've always felt that all gibson guitars have a nasally tone within, and strats have it as well, what with that middle pickup tone knob.
[ Mon 00:09:13 ] gary u.s.: Jeff Beck's "Let me love you" from truth
